Claire Smith is a recognized voice and passionate leader in the global meetings industry, with more than 35 years' experience. She currently serves as Executive Director of Convention Centres of Canada, advancing the profile, professionalism, and business opportunities for convention facilities across Canada.
Previously, as Vice President, Sales & Marketing at the Vancouver Convention Centre, Claire was responsible for strategic business development, leading the sales and marketing teams, and positioning the facility in the global marketplace.
An industry thought leader, Claire has been a featured speaker and session facilitator at industry conferences across Asia, North America, and Europe, exploring the opportunities and challenges shaping the sector. She is committed to advancing the industry through mentorship and active participation in key associations.
Claire was the 2018 Chair of PCMA’s Board of Directors—the first supplier and first non‑U.S.-based member to hold this position. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Meetings Mean Business Canada, where she currently serves as secretary.
In October 2025, Claire was inducted into the Events Industry Council Hall of Leaders, a global distinction recognizing lifetime achievement and service in shaping and advancing the industry.
